"Tableau no 1" from 1913, is a key work by Piet Mondrian that marks a transition towards his characteristic abstract style. Inspired by a natural landscape that Mondrian simplified to arrive at an image of pure geometric forms, this work reflects his interest in reducing reality to its essential elements. Piet, influenced by Cubism and Symbolism evolved towards Neoplasticism a movement he co-founded. This movement focused on the use of straight lines and primary colors to express universal harmony. In this artwork, the artist's effort is clearly seen in how he deconstructed nature to seek a new form of art, more structural and less figurative.

His influence is evident in the development of Abstract Art and in later movements such as Concrete Art and Minimalism . Mondrian's work has inspired numerous artists, including notable figures like Theo van Doesburg and Max Bill.
