Biomorphism is an artistic style that uses organic and natural forms inspired by the biology and morphology of living organisms. This approach seeks to create a bridge between the natural and artistic worlds, using fluid lines and curved shapes that evoke biological structures. The Surrealist movement, with its interest in the subconscious and dreams, significantly influenced the development of biomorphism, with notable artists such as Jean Arp and Joan Miró .

In the 1930s, biomorphism began to gain popularity, especially through the works of Yves Tanguy , whose paintings featured landscapes filled with amorphous and suggestive forms. These abstract representations were fundamental to the evolution of modern art, influencing later movements such as Abstract Expressionism. Artists like Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko found inspiration in biomorphism to develop their own styles.

The work of Henry Moore also reflects the influence of biomorphism, especially in his sculptures that mimic the natural forms of the human body and organic elements. Another notable exponent is Barbara Hepworth, whose abstract and organic sculptures evoke natural landscapes and biological forms, showing the deep connection between art and nature.
